FAQs About Medicare Open Enrollment
Medicare open enrollment is one of the most important times of the year for those enrolled in Medicare or becoming eligible. Below are answers to common questions about open enrollment and how we can help guide you through the process:

What is Medicare open enrollment, and when does it occur?
Medicare open enrollment is an annual window from October 15 to December 7 when individuals already enrolled in Medicare can change their coverage. This includes switching from Original Medicare (Parts A and B) to a Medicare Advantage plan (Part C), changing from one Medicare Advantage plan to another, adding or changing a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan, or returning to Original Medicare from an Advantage plan. Any updates made during this enrollment period take effect on January 1 of the following year.
Can I make changes to my existing plan during open enrollment?
Yes. This is the ideal time to update your current plan if your healthcare needs or financial situation have changed. Whether you want to switch to a plan that offers different provider networks, lower drug costs, or additional benefits like dental or vision coverage, the open enrollment period allows you to explore your options and select the plan that best suits your needs.
Why should I review my Medicare coverage every year?
Even if you’ve been satisfied with your coverage in the past, it’s wise to review your plan annually. Insurance providers often update premiums, copays, drug formularies, and in-network doctors. At the same time, your personal health needs may have changed. An annual review ensures your plan still meets your current medical and financial priorities.
